Hilar Stadler


Hilar Stadler is an art historian. He was born in Lucerne in 1963 where he lives and works. Stadler studied history of art and film studies at the University of Zurich. He is the director of the Museum im Bellpark in Kriens where he curated exhibitions such as “Las Vegas Studio. Images from the Archives of Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown”, “Eduard Spelterini. Photographs of a Pioneer Balloonist”, “Die erste Autobahn der Schweiz“, and “VROOOOAAAMMM. Ein Versuch über den Motorsport“, and worked with artists like Balthasar Burkhard, Peter Regli, Kaspar Müller, Jean-Frédéric Schnyder, Mario Sala or David Renggli. Since 2015 he is the director of the Adolf Wölfli Foundation. He also works as a freelance curator and writer, working with art, architecture and photography. In 2014 he collaborated with Martino Stierli and the artist Nils Nova on the project “The Architecture of Hedonism. Three Villas on the Island of Capri” for the Architecture Biennale.
