Alan Bogana works mainly with sculpture and digital art and his works are most often presented in the form of installations.

During the last years his practice has focused on interactions of light with matter by means of experimental processes, though at the same time rooted in a culture of « vernacular science ». Even though scientific discoveries are often the starting point of his work, it is never to illustrate a fact, but to stimulate the imagination and to speculate on an unknown world of which science gives us a theoretical account.

He completed a Fine Art Diploma with honours at the Geneva University of Art and Design in 2009, a specialization in computer graphics in 2010 and one in artistic research methodologies at the Zürich University of Art and Design in 2013.

He has had solo shows in Geneva at Hard Hat, Duplex and Kügler independent art spaces as well as at Blank Projects in Cape Town, South Africa.
He has participated in various collective shows and festivals in Switzerland, France, USA and the United Kingdom. He was selected for the Swiss Art Awards in 2010 and in 2014, as well as for a three-month residency in Cape Town, South Africa in 2011. He is currently an artist in residence at the Swiss Institute in Rome, Italy.
