Henrietta Hine has a background in experimental art practice which informs her current work with artists, curators, schools and the public within museum education.

In 2007 Henrietta moved to The Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London as Head of Public Programmes from the education department at the Whitechapel Gallery. Prior to that she developed training programmes for engage, the National Association for Gallery Education in museums across the UK; she has also given presentations in Switzerland, Thailand and Japan.

At the Courtauld Henrietta Hine has responsibility for the extensive education and public events programme in the gallery, professional development for students and a comprehensive range of academic art history courses for adults. She also leads the new young people’s programme which encourages teenagers to participate in the museum world, investigate art history and experiment with contemporary art practice at the highest level.

As Curator of Education at the Whitechapel Gallery Henrietta Hine ran artist’s residencies in London schools and programmes for teachers. She also coordinated the en-quire research programme across four east London galleries as part of the UK Government’s investigation into museum and gallery learning. From 2001-05, she was Education Manager at the Royal British Society of Sculptors Gallery in London and established a new education programme with artists and schools in the Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert National Museums.

In 1996 Henrietta set up Discovery Projects, an artist-led organisation which facilitated collaborations between art, science and education. She gained funding from Arts Council England and the Medical Research Council for several exhibitions and projects which toured to NHS hospitals, the Royal College of Art and archaeology museums across the UK.
