Hermann Rorschach

Hermann Rorschach (1884 Zürich;
† 1922 Herisau)  was a Swiss Freudian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, best known for developing a projective test known as the Rorschach inkblot test. This test was reportedly designed to reflect unconscious parts of the personality that "project" onto the Stimuli.

After his high school graduation Rorschach could not decide between a career in art and one in science; finally he enrolled in medical school at the University of Zurich, Sitzerland.

After his degree he worked at several Swiss psychiatric hospitals in Bern (Waldau), Münsingen and Herisau.

1921 he wrote his book Psychodiagnostik, which was to form the basis of the inkblot test.
