Mirjam Asmal-Dik

Mirjam Asmal-Dik completed a Bachelor's degree in International Management before obtaining her Master's in the History of Art, specialising in Indian contemporary art, from the University of Amsterdam. She worked for numerous galleries in Europe and South Africa before setting up a regional liaison office for the Arts Council of Switzerland (Pro Helvetia) in Cape Town, which she managed for nearly a decade. From 2006 till 2009 she managed CAPE Africa Platform, an NGO to mount large-scale contemporary African art exhibitions on the Cape peninsula. As an independent curator she has curated 'Indian Contemporary Art' (Durban and Cape Town, 1997) and co-curated 'Holland South Africa Line' (Amsterdam and Cape Town, 1997-1998), 'towards-transit' (Zurich, 1999) and 'Cascoland Mafikeng' (Mafikeng, 2010).
